Do You Have Life Purpose Anxiety?

by Melissa Goerke on September 26, 2008

One topic that comes up quite frequently when I work with people is that they feel lost and uncertain of their purpose on earth. Life purpose seems like a huge mystery to many people, and they feel that every day that goes by without solving the mystery of their purpose is a wasted day. I believe that many of us are already living our purpose, but we are simply unaware of it. I also suspect that there is a great deal of confusion for many between the concept of your purpose and your roles.

Shortly after I began Melissa Thinks Out Loud, I came across a blog who's title grabbed me immediately, and who's content has kept me an avid reader.  Divine Purpose Unleashed is co-written by Michelle Vandepas and CK Reyes who bring together an amazingly strong and varied background in the fields of alternative medicine, psychology, religion, coaching and tradition business.  They are a terrific team and their personalities blend beautifully through their writing and their audio recordings.  I love the way they banter in the comments on their blog posts!

I recently downloaded their free report  "7 Myths, 8 Lies and 35 Excuses People Use for Not Living their Life Purpose", and I was struck by how helpful this report can be for so many people facing life purpose anxiety.  Michele and CK's clear and simple explanation of the myths we are told, the lies we tell ourselves, and the excuses we make are truly eye opening.  Once you read this report you will feel so much better about where you are in terms of life purpose today, and where you are going tomorrow.  Personally, it has been a reaffirmation of my thoughts on the topic, and I have filed the report away in my journal for safe-keeping to pull out whenever I need to be reminded!
Myths to Living Divine Purpose

Having read their free report I knew I wanted to sign up for their 12 step course called "Divine Purpose Unveiled", which promises to guide the student through a variety of methods towards uncovering their purpose.  It requires an open heart and mind as well as a willingness to invest time into your journey, but isn't finding your path worth it?  I am looking forward to diving into the course material this weekend, and sharing my journey both here on the blog and with other classmates on the dedicated class group list.

Even though I feel that I am on the right track when it comes to understanding my purpose, I find that my everyday life in the corporate world can sometimes obscure my path.  It has become essential to me to consistently immerse myself in classes and books and groups to continue that flow of energ,y and to keep that part of my heart, mind and soul open and receiving the message.  I really hope some of you will join me in this class.  It looks like it is going to be a fun and enlightening journey!!!!

Do you know how to live your Life\'s Purpose?
By the way, I am just loving the butterfly theme….so perfect for this topic!

Melissa,
What a wonderful surprise to find this review on your site of our work. CK and I love to Unveil Life Purpose, and we find that as we help others, our own Purpose deepens. I hope you love our course and look forward to supporting you however we can so that your Purpose deepens as well.

Hi Melissa,
I have downloaded and read the report and what I can say is that, it’s awesome!
There’re so many myths that many should know. :)

Melissa,
Wow! What a nice connection we’ve made. Be sure to let everyone know that our purpose is to empower and inspire others to live a life of purpose! The journey isn’t always easy, but it is definitely worth it. Every time I am up in front of a group of people leading them to their purpose, I feel so invigorated and strong in my being! I want that for everyone.

This is an excellent reference and I will download it as this is a question that has been on my mind for a long time and if I can get someone to help me with finding my life purpose … that would take a huge weight off my shoulders.

Sometimes I think there’s a purpose and until I made it to the end, I have to come back.
I’ve read a book (half – long story…) once “The Magus of Strovolos, which explains my theory perfectly.
I need to get my hands on that book again…thanks for the reminder :)

Melissa,
I just discovered your blog through a comment you left at Shift Your Spirits. Love the title/concept of “thinking out loud” and this post topic is excellent.
I find that many of my clients are confusing their sense of purpose with a job. Your sense of purpose is something you bring to any job, actually. It’s an inevitable quality/role which other people often respond to in you even when you don’t know it.
Of course, I think what people are ultimately searching for is an everyday way of being in the world where what they do is in alignment with who they are. That combination is certainly powerful.
CK and Michelle are devoted to this topic; they are fantastic women with much wisdom to share on this subject.

I have Life Purpose Anxiety (LPA?). Actually I think I’ve always had it, I remember even when I was really young going through this same thing. Sometimes I feel I’m ‘on-purpose’ and then the anxiety subsides. But at the moment I’m really going through it again. So I’m off to download that free report now, thanks for letting us know – it sounds like it’s going to be good! Great title.

Hi Melissa I’ve been meaning to stop by and comment for a while now. I’m glad that I did. I’m looking forward to you sharing your experiences from this course. I’m going to subscribe so can read all about how it’s working out for you.
I happen to believe that our purpose isn’t pre-destined or rigid in any way. I also believe that when we bring all of who we are to our work and we are fulfilled in doing it that our purpose is already in play.
